Ryanair’s joke fails to take off on Twitter

-

WHEN British Airways accidentally sent a plane to Edinburgh instead of Dusseldorf, it looked like an open goal for rivals.

But Ryanair’s attempt to score PR points backfired yesterday – given the budget airline’s record is far from blemish-free.

Following BA’s bungled flight, a message on Ryanair’s official Twitter account offered a ‘present’ for the airline – a copy of Geography for Dummies. BA replied generously, saying: ‘No one is perfect.’

But Ryanair’s critics on social media suggested books its own bosses should read, including Customer Service and Employment Law for Dummies.

The airline was forced to cancel hundreds of flights last year following strikes by pilots and other staff in protest at working conditions.

Another web user pointed out that a Ryanair flight bound for Thessaloniki in Greece was diverted more than 500 miles away. Affected passengers complained of being offered the chance to complete the journey on an old bus.

Twitter users also ridiculed Ryanair over its practice of flying passengers to out of the way airports, such as Beauvais, which is more than fifty miles from Paris.
