Found, stolen £21m Picasso

-

A £21MILLION Picasso stolen 20 years ago has been recovered by a Dutch sleuth known as the ‘Indiana Jones of the art world’.

Arthur Brand trailed the 1938 painting Buste de Femme for years after it was stolen from a Saudi sheikh’s yacht in 1999. He said the painting circulated in the criminal underworld of Amsterdam for years, as it was used as a payment in drugs and arms deals.

Mr Brand was contacted two weeks ago by a businessman who thought he had got the painting in a legitimate deal.

He said that after recovering the painting he hung it on his wall for the night and ‘thoroughly enjoyed it’. He has now handed the painting (pictured) to an insurance company.

Mr Brand previously tracked down a pair of bronze horses made for Adolf Hitler by Nazi sculptor Josef Thorak.
