Neeson cut from prospectus at his old university
AN ELITE university has removed former student Liam Neeson from its prospectus after he admitted he once wanted to injure black men.
Neeson, 66 ( pictured), does not feature in the 2020 promotional booklet for Queen’s University in Belfast, despite having appeared in previous years. The Hollywood star, a physics and computer science undergraduate in 1971, had appeared in the ‘heritage and heroes’ section of the prospectus, alongside the poet Seamus Heaney.
In February Neeson told a newspaper that 40 years ago he went out into black areas in a city with a cosh ‘looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence’. He said it was in retaliation after a female friend told him she had been raped by a black man.
Queen’s, a member of the elite Russell Group of universities, declined to comment yesterday.
