STRAIGHT TO THE POINT
MYSELF and two friends each paid £25 for a spa day from discount voucher site LivingSocial in January.
But, whenever we tried to book an appointment, we were told there were none available. The spa then claimed the vouchers had expired and we would now need to pay extra. Is this a scam? A. M., London. WHEn I contacted voucher site Wowcher, which runs LivingSocial, it immediately refunded you and your friends. It has also promised to investigate the spa company concerned, Wax angelsz, as you should have been able to redeem your vouchers Monday to Saturday until april 30. I PARKED in a car park where the maximum stay was three hours. I went into Sainsbury’s and was back within the time limit, but still got a £60 ticket. I paid it, as I thought I could get the money back on appeal. I’ve since written to UK Parking Control, but am getting nowhere. C. C., Highbridge, Somerset. I HavE contacted UK Parking Control’s Press Office three times and emailed its complaints team to ask why it is refusing to respond, but to no avail.
I can only suggest taking your case to the independent adjudicator, POPLa (Parking On Private Land appeals). You can contact it by phone on 0330 159 6126. MY PLUMBING and drainage cover with HomeServe has increased from £99 to £230 since last year. I haven’t made any claims, so why has it gone up so much? R. C., Cheshunt, Herts. WHEn you took out the policy, you were charged an introductory rate, but this ended after 12 months. HomeServe has since offered you an £84 discount, but you have now decided to cancel your policy.
