Today’s poem

- DAYDREAMING

The word referendum Is quite a conundrum In view of the trouble we’re in. I’d like to remove it Ignore it or lose it Or just kick it straight in the bin. The question was asked At the polls votes were cast, Did I dream it or was it a nightmare? Of one thing I’m sure As I wait furthermore I hope someone soon clears the air. Deadlines, decisions, Derisions, division, All words needing constant attention While others debate We all have to wait With thoughts that we don’t dare to mention. However, I’ve tried Referendum won’t hide As long as we all stay awake, I’ll put it in pending And hope never-ending. Did someone say coffee and cake? Valerie Silver, Basingstoke, Hants.

...and Limerick

Too tired to tidy your shed? Then just get a pet mouse instead. He’ll busy himself Clearing junk off the shelf — And all this while you’re still in bed. I. G. Fenner, New Milton, Hants.
