Unilever raids Amazon

UNILEVEr has poached a top Amazon executive to run its beauty and personal care business.

The firm, which owns brands including Dove, Lynx and Toni & Guy, said Sunny Jain starts in June.

Jain, who is Canadian, previously ran Amazon’s consumer packaged goods division and was at Procter & Gamble for 16 years. The post he will take was held by Unilever boss Alan Jope, who started as group chief executive in January.

Unilever’s beauty and personal care business is the group’s largest arm. It has recently acquired a string of smaller brands to boost its appeal to younger customers, including Dollar Shave Club and vegan- friendly make-up brand Hourglass.
