BLISSETT: BAN THEM FROM THE EUROS

-

FORMER stars of the English game gave forthright views on the racism issue yesterday. LUTHER BLISSETT (LOVE SPORT RADIO) The people in the boardrooms, the ones who administer the game, they’re the ones who are failing because they’re the ones who are not doing what should be done to stamp it out. These people, these countries should get banned for the remainder of the tournament. If you cannot behave like a human being they should put you away until you learn. JOHN BARNES (BBC) It’s a bit hypocritical to single out Montenegro when this

happens every week in this country. Unfortunately people are looking at the wrong solution because they think it is to ban people and to close grounds. Only when perceptions are changed will we not see incidents like this. Once we get rid of it in society we’ll get rid of it in football. We can’t get rid of it in football first. If they think the solution is to ban people and shut stadiums then I’ll go with them 100 per cent but don’t just pick on Montenegro. Pick on everyone. GARTH CROOKS (BBC) This abuse started within three minutes last night. The FA, with Gareth Southgate on the

bench, had another 87 minutes to ask the referee and officials: ‘Why are you not enforcing the protocol here?’ It never came. The FA are complicit here. This is about the game’s leadership and authority. PAUL PARKER (TALKSPORT) The only way to deal with a minority is to take away what they like. Take points away, affect those clubs or those football authorities, affect them by taking away points so they can’t have any opportunity to play in major competitions. Fines don’t do anything and closing stadiums is a waste of time, because that affects the away fans.
