Relief from acid reflux

Dee’s heartburn nightmare is eased at last by gel

-

DEE Doshi, 36, was diagnosed with gastro- oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) in 2013. She regularly endured painful heartburn and acid reflux after a meal when the lower oesophageal sphincter allowed the stomach’s contents to flow back up into the oesophagus.

‘Heartburn is so unpleasant and knowing I would suffer afterwards spoiled many meals out with friends,’ she says. ‘I was on prescription medicines for a couple of months which helped, but then I was eased off them and tried to manage my condition by sleeping propped on pillows and using antacids and slippery elm tablets. But this didn’t work for me.

‘I had to make lifestyle and dietary changes — and so eating out with family and friends took a back seat. I love food and found the dietary restrictions annoying.’

On one occasion, her reflux even caused severe chest pain. ‘It was as if someone was squeezing my chest hard. Needless to say, I panicked, thought it was a heart attack and scared my husband so much that he rushed me to A&E. I was so mortified later and still feel embarrassed.’

Then Dee, from London, read about a natural remedy — colloidal silicic acid — and ordered it.

‘On the day I received it I had a flare-up of heartburn and it really soothed it. In fact, it worked wonders for me. I have been able to take control of my symptoms, experience less pain and feel far happier as a result.’

Users of silicic acid gel typically report relief from their symptoms, feeling in control of their life again and being able to exercise, take simple trips to the shops, and accept invitations to family events that would once have been impossible.

Colloidal silicic acid gel is available from Tesco, Holland & Barrett, Lloyds Pharmacy, Superdrug and independent pharmacies.
