Better bathtimes for Mum

-

WITH Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, weekend how about helping your mum get more enjoyment out of bathing by taking a look at her bathroom and seeing where improvements might be made?

Including safety features, such as grab bars and slip-resistant flooring, is the obvious place to start. But there is much more that can be done to make a bathroom feel almost like a home spa.

You could employ a bit of feng shui — the Chinese art of improving wellbeing by enhancing the layout. Try adding plants and warm, soothing colours.

Declutter to make it easier to clean, and improve the lighting to introduce a lighter, brighter feel. feel

If your mum is looking at getting a walk-in bath installed, you could help her choose one that can be factory fitted with mood-enhancing extras, such as chromotherapy underwater lighting that changes colour to help users relax.

Add bath jets that create thousands of little air bubbles, and she will be able to enjoy soothing massages in the bath whenever she likes.

Alternatively, a walk-in shower will make her daily life more relaxing and enjoyable, while helping to keep her safe. Not having to climb in and out of a high-sided bath can make all the difference to confidence and independence.

Or if she is not keen to make major changes to the bathroom, a bath lift could help. With the latest belt lifts, a neat unit is installed on the wall by the bath.

A wide belt (pictured) unfurls from it and is securely attached to a bracket on the floor at the other side of the bath.

Mum just has to slide on to the taut belt and use the control panel or remote to be gently eased down into the water, where she can lie back and enjoy a good soak.

Happy Mother’s Day!
