Harry Kane’s MBE fixture... Palace, away from home!
COOL and clinical in front of goal, Harry Kane had a few collywobbles as he received his MBE yesterday.
The England football captain admitted he was ‘out of his comfort zone’ as he was handed the gong by the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace.
The 25-year-old, given the award for services to sport, led England to the World Cup semi-finals last year – galvanising the nation in the process and winning the tournament’s Golden Boot for scoring six goals.
The Spurs striker said: ‘It’s a bit out the comfort zone to be off the pitch, but it’s a great day for me and my family. With football you’re in your comfort zone, even in front of thousands of people. Here, you don’t want to mess anything up.’
Kane’s fiancee Katie Goodland and parents Kim and Patrick looked on proudly as he was given the gong by William – an Aston Villa fan and President of the Football Association.
The forward also praised his England team-mates for the way they dealt with racist abuse during their 5-1 victory over Montenegro on Monday.
