CAN’T WE HAVE PERMANENT BRITISH SUMMERTIME?
IN 2012, an attempt to move the UK’s clocks forward continuously by an hour for a three-year trial failed after the legislation ran out of time in Parliament.
The suggestion was vigorously opposed in Scotland and Northern England because it would leave most areas dark until 10am in winter.
It would make farmers’ lives harder and increase road accidents, critics said.
This continues to be the most powerful argument against changing current practice.
