Easter holiday prices slashed by a third
TRAVEL firms have slashed prices of some breaks over the Easter school holiday by more than a third.
Families can now go abroad for a week for little more than £100 per person, with many five-star deals heavily discounted.
It comes as fewer Britons are booking holidays in Europe because of uncertainty over Brexit.
Experts say firms are offering big discounts to lure holidaymakers nervous about the effects of the UK’s departure on visas, currency, car hire and health cover. Analysis showed a package holiday in Malta during next month’s school break was up to 34 per cent cheaper than last year.
A family of four could buy a seven-night holiday there for £564, while prices were down 24 per cent for a break in Sardinia, 20 per cent for Santorini in Greece and 16 per cent in Cyprus. Meanwhile, one weeklong package for a family of four in Majorca was listed at just £424 on price comparison site Travelsupermarket last night. Even a five-star self-catering holiday on Spain’s Costa Brava started at just £206 a head for seven nights.
Emma Coulthurst, from Travelsupermarket, said: ‘Normally, I’d say to avoid the school holidays if you are travelling without school-age children but the current bargains mean that prices are low across the board.’
