CO2 pollution at its lowest since 1800s
THE UK’s greenhouse gas emissions are down for the sixth year in a row, figures show.
Production of carbon dioxide, the main contributor to climate change, is at its lowest level since the 19th century, the Government said.
The overall 3 per cent reduction in greenhouse gases last year was mainly thanks to a 7 per cent fall in pollution from energy suppliers as they switched to renewable power. These sources created a record one-third of the electricity we generated in 2018.
Transport is now responsible for the biggest share of the Britain’s climate pollution.
