Badge bother for Remainer

A REMAIN supporter claims he was detained at Gatwick and had his passport taken away for wearing a ‘ Bo***cks to Brexit’ lapel badge.

Eddie Brinsmead-Stockham, above, says an official told him to take off the badge and, when he refused, took him to a holding area and confiscated his passport.

The management consultant, from Kingston, south-west London, felt ‘intimidated’ and ‘frightened’ and says his treatment was an ‘abuse of power’. He has now complained to the Home Office.

The 65-year-old was stopped at passport control on Monday after returning from a golfing holiday in Portugal.

After ten minutes he was given his passport back by another official, who also warned him to remove his badge.

Mr Brinsmead-Stockham said: ‘I wear the badge because I am a proud Remainer. I believe the referendum was corrupt.’

The Home Office said: ‘We are taking this matter seriously and are investigating.’
