Watch out for . . .
MArThA PLIMPTON, who will be joined by her close colleague Clare Perkins in the transfer of Donmar Warehouse hit Sweat, the prizewinning drama by Lynn Nottage about blue- collar workers in rustbelt Pennsylvania fighting for their jobs and way of life.
Perkins appeared with Plimpton in the brilliant, clear-eyed production directed by Lynette Linton that opened at the Donmar in December.
But she had already agreed to move to the Vaudeville with the Shakespeare’s Globe play emilia, and it was thought she would not be able to do Sweat in the West end as well.
however, emilia’s creative team and producers were gracious enough to let the actress leave emilia two weeks early, so she could open at the Gielgud for previews on June 7.
Nica Burns, who runs the Vaudeville, told me that Perkins will, from Sunday, have her name in lights on the marquees at the Vaudeville and the Gielgud. Quite an achievement for any artist.
Leanne Best, Osy Ikhile, Wil Johnson, Stuart McQuarrie, Sule rimi and Sebastian Viveros (all from the Donmar cast) are also going to the Gielgud. however, there’s still one more part to be cast.
CAMILLE Cottin (pictured), Thibault de Montalembert, Gregory Montel, Liliane Rovere, Fanny Sidney, Laure Calamy,
Nicolas Maury, Stefi Celma and Assaad Bouab, who play the motley crew representing actors and creatives in Call My Agent!, a drama set in Paris that developed a cult following during its three seasons on Netflix.
Now the show’s makers, Mon Voisin Productions, have confirmed to me that a fourth season is being written, with filming scheduled for September in Paris, and the aforementioned actors returning.
What gives the series added grit is the appearance of real- life stars, as fictionalised versions of themselves, in single episodes (Monica Bellucci, Jean Dujardin and Isabelle Huppert have all guest starred).
