AUSTRALIA: EARTH’S MAGICAL KINGDOM, 9PM, BBC2

THIS gorgeous series has just one tiny flaw: it’s not narrated by Sir David Attenborough. That’s not to say that Barry Humphries does a bad job, but tonight’s close-ups of possums in the sheds of Melbourne and dingoes (pictured) eking out a living in a desert gold mine feel less involving with Humphries’s ironic drawl layered over them rather than Sir David’s grandfatherly warmth. It’s a minor grumble, though, and the shots of Aussie critters making lives in human cities in this final episode remain stunning.
