SLEEK TV series take on the film about a girl who is trained in the woods as a super-soldier by her spy fugitive dad. The series puts that emotional relationsh­ip at the core, digging into his character and what that means for Hanna as she crashes into the outside world, maturing sharply and meeting all manner of colourful characters. Samantha Morton’s daughter Esme Creed-Miles is great as Hanna.

BAND BEGINNINGS The Beatles: Made On Merseyside, 9pm, BBC4

ORIGINAL drummer Pete Best recalls the band’s early years in Liverpool as ‘the lads on the ladder’ below the likes of Rory Storm And The Hurricanes. Best is just one contributo­r to this evocative picture of those days, not just of The Beatles, but of life in Liverpool (‘The place was absolutely filthy’).
