Michael Ball gets first No1 in 27yrs

SINGeR Michael ball has landed his first solo number one album in 27 years, calling the achievemen­t one of the ‘greatest highlights’ of his career. New album Coming Home to You debuted at the top of the charts this week, knocking Singing to Strangers by Jack Savoretti into second place.

It is ball’s first solo chart-topper since his self-titled debut in 1992, and his fourth number one overall following two collaborat­ions with alfie boe.

ball, 56, said: ‘It’s the most exciting news! thank you so much for supporting the album, to all the fans who’ve connected with it and bought it.

‘I’m so proud of it. the hard work has all been worth it and this has been one of the greatest highlights of my career. ‘this is the icing on the cake. amazing!’ the Greatest Showman soundtrack was at number three.
