Captain Corelli’s lost his mandolin

-

THE star of a stage show based on epic love story Captain Corelli’s Mandolin has lost the 129-year-old musical instrument used in the production.

Alex Mugnaioni put the mandolin, nicknamed Antonia, in a luggage rack on a train – then forgot to take it with him when he got off.

He said: ‘The mandolin is the main part of the show. We spent a long time hunting for the perfect mandolin – it’s devastating to lose it. I’m playing throughout the show and you create quite a connection with an instrument.’

The show, currently in rehearsals, is due to start a UK tour next month. The mandolin was lost on a train from London Bridge to Sidcup in Kent.

Producers of the play about war-torn love on the Greek island of Cephalonia are offering a reward of show tickets in return for the mandolin.
