Head-on smash kills indie band

BOTH members of indie rock duo Her’s and another Briton died when their van was hit by a truck driving on the wrong side of the road.

Singer Stephen Fitzpatrick, 24, from Barrowin-Furness, bassist Audun Laading, 25, orginally from Norway, plus their tour manager Trevor Engelbrektson were travelling 350 miles from Arizona to California near the end of a US tour.

Neither vehicle had braked before the headon crash, which also killed the other driver.

Fans paid tribute to the ‘warm, gentle’ pair, who met at Liverpool University and featured in a BBC slot for rising stars earlier this month.
