He’ll be Jumping Jack back! Jagger vows to beat health scare by summer

MICK Jagger’s health scare is just a ‘minor setback’ and he will be back on the road this summer, a spokesman for the rock star said last night.

The Rolling Stones frontman is ‘fine’ and the ‘ replacement US tour is already booked for later in late summer’.

It is not known what caused the 75-year-old to postpone all 17 of the band’s US and Canada dates on their No Filter tour which was due to kick off on April 20 at the Hard Rock stadium in Miami.

The Stones took the drastic step after ‘something untoward’ was found in the routine scan he does before every tour. The band said he needed ‘medical treatment’ and would ‘make a complete recovery’ – but did not say what the problem was.

The father-of-eight is known to follow a strict health regime and works out for three hours a day.

As well as the tour, Jagger is working on a collaboration with his American ballet dancer girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 32, with whom he has a two-year-old son.

The production is due to premiere later this month in New York but it is not yet clear if Jagger will be able to attend.

In a statement, he said he was ‘so sorry to all our fans in America and Canada with tickets’.

The rock star said: ‘I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone’.

Other band members came to Jagger’s support, including Keith Richards, who said on Twitter: ‘A big disappointment for everyone but things need to be taken care of and we will see you soon. Mick, we are always there for you’.

The band’s guitarist Ronnie Wood added: ‘ Here’s to Mick – thanks for your supportive messages it means to much to us’.

Fans, who are being offered the chance to go along on rearranged dates or refunds, were supportive of Sir Mick. Some said they were ‘praying’ for his speedy recovery.

Hundreds posted on the It’s Only Rock’n Roll fan site. One wrote: ‘OMG this is devastating news for Mick, the band, and the fans. I’m sure whatever the physical ailment is this is something that could not be ignored.’
