Errant errs

-

Poor enunciation by news reporters doesn’t stop at the word ‘to’ pronounced as ‘ter’ (Letters).

every vowel has been reduced to ‘er’, often more than once in a single word.

We have such horrors as ‘drermatic’, ‘erlections’, ‘realerty’, ‘apolergise’ and ‘amberlernces’.

I thought the former Labour leader was associated with music, since apparently his name was ‘ed Miller band’. one of the worst is ‘kerngracherlaysherns’.

And then there’s the reporter who tells us it is so many ‘yers’ since something happened.

The late, great Mail columnist Keith Waterhouse campaigned for AAA, the Abolition of Aberrant Apostrophes. Perhaps we need a champion for the eradication of errant errs.
