Wrath of the electorate

-

I ATTENDED the meeting where a vote of no confidence in my MP, Dominic Grieve, was passed 182 to 131, amid much jeering and heckling.

I hope he will eventually be de-selected and we can find someone who will be proud to be our Conservative MP for Beaconsfield.

This should send a message to MPs who are acting in their personal interest and not in the interest of their constituents and the country. your judgment day will come! HEATHER DOWLING,

Iver, Bucks. DOMINIC GRIEVE is an outstanding, distinguished MP who has served Beaconsfield well for 22 years. While it is sad to see him lose a vote of confidence, it is not surprising.

It could be argued that, at the 2017 election, nearly 90 per cent of the votes cast in his patch were by electors who supported Brexit. To fly in the face of such an overwhelming preference had to be risky, so is it any wonder that association members voted as they did?

If Mr Grieve can experience such anger in a strong Tory area, how many more MPs, regardless of party affiliation, should be fearful of the wrath of their electorate? Cllr GEORGE SANDY,

taplow, Bucks.
