Who should be the next Prime Minister?

-

WHAT an insightful montage of the 12 possible candidates for the Tory leadership (Mail). Every one a Judas who would betray the electorate to further their own personal agenda. G. SMITH, Cheam, Surrey. HOW about Attorney General Geoffrey Cox as new Tory leader? he has an aura of confidence and an excellent speaking voice. his knowledge of the law would be invaluable and he would make mincemeat of Jeremy Corbyn. S. J. HYDE, Congleton, Cheshire. THE ideal replacement for Mrs May would be Arlene Foster. It would be good to have a Prime Minister with a backbone. PHIL NORTH, Brigg, lincs. THE only credible candidate who has emerged from the awful Tory infighting with his integrity intact is Michael Gove. he is intelligent, a great speaker who can debate with the toughest interviewer and he refrains from the pomposity and dreadful nastiness shown by some of the ERG. he has shown his loyalty to Theresa May and the party, unlike so many of the deluded, self-important backbenchers desperate to lead the Tories. I’d rather not vote at all than support the Tories led by a Rightwinger or loud-mouthed Remainer. ROGER FOWNES, Bromsgrove, Worcs. IT WOULD be madness to allow the traitor MPs to pick our next Prime Minister to suit their anti-Brexit aims. Their choice is Michael Gove, but he has proved himself untrustworthy after stabbing Boris Johnson in the back. He would serve the nation better by returning to the role of Education Secretary, where he did a superb job. Many Leavers’ first choice for leader would be Peter Bone, who has a lower profile than the more ambitious candidates. He is patriotic, intelligent, trustworthy and has never wavered over leaving the EU. He also has the qualities needed to mend divisions. Boris Johnson, David Davis and Iain Duncan Smith are assets to the nation and should all be part of a new Cabinet. As for Chancellor Philip Hammond, he should be replaced by Jacob Rees-Mogg. I believe this A-team would make Britain great again. B. MUNNINGS, Peterborough, Cambs.
