D-Day for Superdry founder Dunkerton

-

JULIAN Dunkerton faces investors today as they vote on his proposed return to Superdry, which he co-founded.

The 54-year-old, who is the fashion group’s largest shareholder, has pleaded with them to give him a seat on the board after he stepped down last year.

He blames chief executive Euan Sutherland and chairman Peter Bamford for presiding over a ‘catastrophic’ decline in Superdry’s share price and implementing a ‘failed strategy’. He has pledged to fix the retailer’s problems if he wins the support of shareholders.

But Sutherland and Bamford said he was not welcome at the business, claiming his return would be ‘divisive’.

Dunkerton, who is married to designer Jade Cooper Holland, 32, both pictured, also wants to bring former Boohoo chairman Peter Williams to sit on the board.

Investors will get the final say on his proposals today.
