Worker woe for builder
ONE of Britain’s biggest private construction contractors is turning business away because it can’t recruit staff quickly enough.
ISG said it is hiring around 55 people a month and would be winning more work if it could recruit more.
The company reported a 37pc increase in pre-tax profit to £38.5m in 2018 and a 29pc rise in revenue to £2.2bn. ISG, which is working on the retail development at the former Eurostar site at Waterloo in London, said UK construction growth stalled last year because of delays to contracts in southern England.
But the performance in the business’ other sectors – including engineering services, UK retail and work overseas – all grew.
