There’s no quick fix, says Parker

- By KIERAN GILL

FULHAM have started planning for next season in the Championship with the club’s relegation from the Premier League to be confirmed if they lose at Watford tonight. Caretaker Scott Parker is part of the rebuild and is set to stay at the club, though it remains to be seen whether he will be made manager permanently. The Cottagers, who have lost their last eight fixtures and not won away in the top flight all season, will be relegated if beaten by Watford tonight, despite their summer spending topping £100million. A number of players, including Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic, will attract interest from Premier League clubs this summer. Those on loan at Fulham, including Calum Chambers and Sergio Rico, are expected to leave. At the club’s training ground yesterday, Parker said there is no easy solution to getting Fulham back on track. ‘There’s no short fix to creating a successful football club and that’s whether it’s one in the Premier League or trying to get to the Premier League,’ said Parker. ‘Ultimately, short fixes get you there but they don’t always keep you there.’ Parker can see similarities between relegation with West Ham as a player in 2011, and Fulham now. ‘When you are in this position in a club, nine times out of 10 it is the same issues,’ he said.
