Lorraine: Women in their 60s look younger now

- By Alisha Rouse Showbusiness Correspondent

AFTER gracing our TV screens for more than 30 years, she knows a thing or two about looking her best.

And now Lorraine Kelly, 59, has claimed that women in their 60s look younger than they did 50 years ago.

The presenter, pictured right, told Good Housekeeping magazine how she has managed to keep in good shape.

She revealed that her trim figure is down to eating in moderation and having a balanced lifestyle.

‘Do not go on a diet. I can’t put that in big enough letters,’ Miss Kelly said. ‘They don’t work. Speaking from my own experience, I did them all.’

She added: ‘It’s all about moderation.’ Asked about how it felt to be feted for her good looks in her 50s, the ITV presenter said that women take better care of themselves nowadays.

She explained: ‘When I was a kid, a woman of 60 looked like a woman of 60: A wee granny perm, a shapeless coat, a tartan shopping bag and comfy shoes.’

Miss Kelly maintains she has never had cosmetic surgery. She said: ‘I look fine and to be honest with you, I see people who have had work done particularly on their lips and think “What are you doing?”. I just think, do a few wrinkles – or should I say laughter lines – matter?’ The full interview appears in the May issue of Good Housekeeping, which goes on sale today.
