Ulrika’s third time unlucky
Presenter, 51, reveals split from husband
Ulrika Jonsson has split from her third husband after 11 years of marriage, she revealed yesterday.
The former weather presenter, 51, said she and Brian Monet had failed to resolve their problems through counselling.
Mother-of-four Miss Jonsson told Best magazine: ‘You can only resolve problems with another person. if i’m honest, getting another divorce age 51 is not where i thought i would be, so who knows?
‘i just don’t know what shape my future will take. i can’t contemplate dating again. Then again, i’ve said i will never marry again before, and i did.’
News of the marriage split comes after the Swede posted several pictures on social media of herself looking downcast or drawn. On one, in august, she wrote: ‘Yesterday was a tough day.
‘Dealing with a lot of things. and yes, i know there are always people worse off. But that’s not how it works. Please don’t feel obliged to leave kind comments – i’m not fishing for sympathy.’
Miss Jonsson married US advertising executive Mr Monet, 50, in March 2008. They have a son, Malcolm, born three months later. The couple renewed their wedding vows in 2012 in Barbados.
Miss Jonsson’s first marriage, from 1990 to 1995, was to cameraman John Turnbull. They have a son Cameron, 24. She then had a stormy relationship with footballer Stan Collymore, a relationship with German hotel manager Marcus kempen – by whom she had daughter Bo, 19 – and a highly-publicised affair with then England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
in 2002, Miss Jonsson met her second husband, lance Gerrard-Wright, while presenting TV show Mr right, on which she was trying to find him a partner.
They married in 2003. Their daughter Martha was born in 2004 but the marriage ended a year later. Miss Jonsson told Best that she has always felt hostility in the Uk for having four children with four different men.
‘i came from Sweden! There is a real feeling of the sisterhood there that i never felt here,’ she said. ‘Sometimes, i felt antagonism. Women can be awful to other women. Ok, i’m biologically a 4x4. But plenty of men father children and then disappear, and they are treated like loveable, if randy, old goats.
‘Then women like me, whose romantic dreams have fallen apart – but who work hard to provide loving homes for children – are vilified.’
Miss Jonsson appeared without her wedding ring on iTV’s lorraine yesterday, alongside her daughter Martha, 14, to promote their contribution to Channel 4’s series let’s Talk about Sex.
