HelMUT KOHl (1930-2017). The longserving German Chancellor oversaw the country’s post-Communism reunification. Margaret Thatcher was often at odds with Kohl. He recalled that after she reluctantly signed a document supporting German reunification, she said angrily: ‘We beat the Germans twice. Now they’re back.’ CHARlOTTe COleMAN (1968-2001). The londonborn actress, right, who died from an asthma attack aged 33, became known for playing eccentric characters such as Marmalade Atkins on Tv and, later, Scarlett — Hugh Grant’s quirky flatmate in Four Weddings And A Funeral. Her co-star Simon Callow described Charlotte as: ‘A Sally Bowles de nos jours — outrageous and vulnerable, and impossible not to watch.’
