I USED TO . . .

-

I used to do excellent crochet, My shawls were displayed on posh stands I’d do it again — and I’d love to If it weren’t for the pains in my hands. I used to help Mum picking soft fruit On one of the large local farms, I’d do it again — and I’d love to If it weren’t for the pains in my arms. I used to live life at the double And run everywhere with such ease, I’d do it again — how I’d love to If it weren’t for the pains in my knees. I used to wear shoes of high fashion Resplendent with buckles and bows. I’d wear them again — and I’d love to If it weren’t for the pains in my toes. So meanwhile I’ll just keep on plodding Deal with pains as they arrive It may not be wildly exciting But — with any luck — I’ll survive. Nora Veysey, Horsmonden, Kent.
