TAYBERRIES
A CROSS between a raspberry and a blackberry, tayberries are large and dark and are produced from July to August. ‘Buckingham Thornless’ is a vigorous type, producing high yields of sweet berries. Train up a wall or fence and heavy crops will be produced two years after planting. Tayberries require moist soil enriched with organic matter, and cool conditions. As with summer raspberries, cut out old canes that have fruited, leaving 12cm between new canes.
