New Abba tracks? Gimme gimme!

- Mail Foreign Service

IT is news that will have fans dusting off their platform boots.

Abba’s Bjorn Ulvaeus has confirmed the group will release new music by the end of this year – almost four decades after they broke up. The quartet first promised fresh material last year when they unveiled plans for a ‘digital tour’ featuring holograms from their 1970s heyday.

But after initial delays in producing the digital avatars – or ‘Abbatars’ – Ulvaeus, 73, said he is hopeful the tracks will be ready by ‘September or October’. He told Denmark’s Ekstra Bladet yesterday that the project ‘has been delayed for too long’.

Computer experts are using old videos to digitally replicate how the band danced, dressed and sang. A two-hour show is set to be broadcast across the world, with a virtual tour to follow.
