Think before you ink, says spy Philby’s granddaughter
SHE is burdened with the most challenging of surnames. However, Charlotte Philby — granddaughter of traitor Kim Philby — has channelled her chequered family history to write her first novel, The Most Difficult Thing.
A rather more prosaic problem for Charlotte, 35, a mother of three, is the tattoo on her right shoulder: ‘Lottie © Established 1983’. ‘I had it done when I was 18,’ she tells me. ‘At least it might act as a stark warning to my children that they should think before they ink.’ A Philby expressing regret. A family first?
