Thorley may miss out on World Cup

- NIK SIMON

OLLIE THORLEY could miss out on the World Cup after suffering a knee injury. The Gloucester winger is not expected to play in the Premiership again, unless his club reach the play-offs. Thorley was a regular in Six Nations squads but is yet to make his England debut. He has been in great form at Gloucester, with six tries in 11 games, yet now has limited chances to seal a spot in Eddie Jones’s squad. ‘Theoretically he’s finished for the season,’ said Gloucester coach Johan Ackermann. ‘The fact he doesn’t need an operation means he could be ready to go in June for World Cup camps. We want to give him the best possible chance for that.’
