Jota ready to shine in semi with Jimenez

- By LAURIE WHITWELL

Wolves are ready for Wembley, with Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez firing as their scoring ‘solution’.

Jota feels he has developed a great understanding with strike partner Jimenez and hopes are high ahead of sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Watford.

The two have accounted for six of the last seven goals scored by Wolves, and on four of those occasions one forward has assisted the other.

Nuno espirito santo gained promotion by playing a front three but has since tweaked his system to have two forwards — and the results have been impressive.

‘Football always reinvents and people always find solutions and we found ours,’ Jota said. ‘We are understanding each other well, which is good for each other and the team. But we know without the contribution of the other players that nothing is possible.’

Nuno selected a strong line-up against Manchester United on Tuesday night and was rewarded with a 2-1 win that leaves Wolves buoyant going into sunday.

‘The first step to achieve something is to believe,’ said Jota. ‘It was a good boost for sunday. We understand what it means to our fans to reach the last stages of one of the oldest competitions in the world and we are looking forward to trying to reach the final.’

ole Gunnar solskjaer’s side were another big scalp for Wolves but Jota added: ‘I don’t think we are obsessed with just trying to beat the big teams. We are just playing game by game.’
