mO SALAH found the perfect time to rediscover his goalscoring touch last night to help fire Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League with victory over Southampton.
Jurgen Klopp’s ‘Egyptian king’ put Liverpool 2-1 ahead after 80 minutes with a brilliant breakaway goal — his first in nine games in all competitions.
It took Salah’s tally to 50 Premier League goals in just 69 appearances for Liverpool. Only Alan Shearer and Ruud van Nistelrooy have achieved the feat quicker.
Southampton had led through Shane Long’s ninth-minute goal but Naby Keita equalised before half-time. Jordan Henderson added a third to ensure Liverpool again leapfrogged manchester City in an absorbing title race. A delighted Salah said: ‘That’s goal number 50 for Liverpool which is very special. I’m very happy to score.’
Henderson added: ‘Every game is massive and we know we have to win every game, so this was a great night.’
