Hornets chief Scott leaves club
ANDY SCOTT has left his position as Watford sporting director in a further shake-up at the Premier League club. Scott is understood to have been told his contract, ending next month, would not be renewed. Sources indicate his role in appointing Darren Sarll as academy head was a key factor in the decision. Sarll left Vicarage Road in February following an investigation into allegations of bullying. He was suspended when safeguarding officers were alerted to the claims, although Watford said he then departed permanently on ‘amicable’ terms. Scott had recommended Sarll having worked with him at Brentford and Rotherham. Scott’s two-year fixed-term deal is coming to an end this summer and, while Watford stress they are still in dialogue about possible roles, Sportsmail understands those talks will end. Scott was promoted from his previous position heading up UK football recruitment in November, so his departure can be seen as relatively sudden.
