Tory protest at ‘betrayal’

-

TORY activists are refusing to campaign for the party because of Theresa May’s attempts to do a Brexit deal with Jeremy Corbyn.

More than 100 councillors and council candidates have written to the Prime Minister and party chairman Brandon Lewis ahead of local elections next month warning they feel ‘betrayed’ and that ‘belief in the party they joined has gone’.

They said donations and volunteer numbers have ‘dried up’ because the Government has ‘completely lost touch’.

The letter complains that Tory voters ‘don’t want more fudge’ or ‘to see power over Brexit handed to Jeremy Corbyn’, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

Bob Perry, of Hornchurch and Upminster Conservative Association in east London, told The Mail on Sunday that ‘apoplectic’ party members are ready to go on strike to get Mrs May to step down.
