Why did your country kill my lover, Novichok victim asks Russian envoy

- By Izzy Ferris

A VICTIM of the novichok attack in Salisbury has met Russia’s ambassador to London to question him about the death of his partner Dawn Sturgess.

Charlie Rowley, 45, said: ‘I went along to ask them, “Why did your country kill my girlfriend?” but I didn’t really get any answers.’

He and Miss Sturgess, 44, fell ill after touching a perfume bottle thought to have been used in the poisonings of ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. Miss Sturgess died in July.

Mr Rowley said ambassador Alexander Yakovenko again denied Russian involvement, claiming that Russian novichok ‘would have killed everyone’ and instead suggesting the nerve agent could have come from the US, UK or Czech Republic.

Mr Rowley, who was joined by his brother Matthew, added: ‘I liked the ambassador, but I thought some of what he said was ridiculous.’
