Red Bull chief now wants to help you sleep
THE man behind Red Bull’s global success has come up with a drink designed to do the opposite of the energy booster – help people get a good night’s sleep.
Former Red Bull director Hans Vriens is launching a herbal sleeping aid called Snoooze. The drink contains extracts of herbs traditionally used to improve sleep, including linden flower, passion flower and lemon balm.
‘In the case of Red Bull, we gave them the energy to party through the night,’ Mr Vriens said. ‘In the case of Snoooze, we give them the energy the next day.
‘I guess I’m still in the energy business. Only, this time, you have to sleep first to get it yourself.’
Mr Vriens, who lives in Salzburg, claims the drink has fewer calories than other beverage-based sleeping aids as well as no caffeine or chemicals.
It is a far cry from Red Bull, which has become increasingly controversial over the years after being linked to heart attacks.
Snoooze will be tapping into the British market for sleep aids which is worth £24 million a year. ‘It would be cool if we make a tiny contribution to making people less stressed,’ Mr Vriens added.
