Peru Two drug mule ‘in talks to turn ordeal into TV series’

- By Chris Brooke

DRUG mule Michaella McCollum has reportedly held talks to turn the story of her jail ordeal in Peru into a television series.

The 25-year-old – one of the so-called Peru Two caught trying to smuggle £1.5million of cocaine – has been trying to turn her notoriety into a career.

House Of Women, a book about her incarceration in a hellhole prison, was due to be published last year but has been delayed.

And last week the mother-oftwo posted a picture of herself walking down a London street to her 23,000 Instagram followers with the caption: ‘Successful meeting with production company. What would you like to see the book turned into?’ No further details are known.

Miss McCollum, from Dungannon in County Tyrone, and her Scottish friend Melissa Reid were caught trying to smuggle 11kg of cocaine out of the Peruvian capital Lima in 2013. They were sentenced to six years and eight months but were freed in 2016.

The former model now has a management company called BLVK looking after her. Neither a company spokesman nor Miss McCollum were available for comment yesterday.
