...but striker’s missed chance of a big move

- CHRIS SUTTON

JAMIE VARDY will go down in Premier League history for what he did with Leicester City. He was the poster boy of their 2016 title win. When you think of their 5,000-1 triumph, you think of him up front, terrorising teams with his pace and putting the ball in the net. The summer after winning the title, he had his chance to join Arsenal but instead signed a new deal to stay at the King Power Stadium. That is where he should now finish his career. His time to go to a big-six club has been and gone. He is now 32 years old and Leicester are chasing seventh in the Premier League, which could equal a European spot. Brendan Rodgers has come in and shown his striker some love. He wants him onside straight away. Vardy is clearly a strong character in the changing room. We saw that with what happened with the previous manager, Claude Puel. When Puel left Vardy out of his line-up, he was cutting his nose off to spite his face. He seems to be scoring for fun since Puel left.
