Henderson learned from best in Gerrard
LIVERPOOL’S midfield may never be as good as it was when Steven Gerrard was in it, but you can see Jordan Henderson learned from the master. At Southampton on Friday, Henderson was brought off the bench at 1-1. He then proceeded to provide an assist for Mohamed Salah and score the third in a 3-1 win which sent Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp deserves credit for not only that substitution but for the way he has managed Henderson and coaxed these performances out of the midfielder. Henderson, who played alongside Gerrard 135 times in all competitions, stood up for his team when they needed him most. If Liverpool go on to win the league, people will talk about that comeback at St Mary’s. Henderson’s contribution could prove priceless.
