Andros: Racism’s crept back

- CRAIG HOPE

ANDROS TOWNSEND fears racism has crept back into football and has applauded the bravery of Danny Rose in speaking out. And Townsend, whose father Troy works for the anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out, said, ‘Danny’s a very brave man for being so honest and speaking the truth. We need more players to speak out, to say what they really feel. We all support him. He’s an incredible person. ‘We’ve got to move on in football and kick racism out as much as we can. It’s crept back in a little bit which is not great.’ Palace midfielder Townsend says he has so far avoided racist abuse. Others have not been so fortunate. ‘Hopefully, the system can help Danny and he can enjoy his football again. I don’t know why it’s still going on. ‘Hopefully the relevant organisations, like the one my dad works for, will do their best to stamp it out once and for all.’
