FOR some women, having the latest designer handbag is of the upmost importance.

But whether this unusual Chanel double bag will catch on, especially as it carries a £5,300 price tag, is anybody’s guess.

The yellow bags are made from the skin of a lamb and, more importantly for those who care about such things, it features not one but three opportunities for passers-by to spot the Chanel logo.

The bags (pictured below) are a similar design to the French fashion house’s usual handbags, but paired in the centre of the straps by a matching lambskin clasp.

One fashion blogger compared the Channel’s ‘innovative and cool’ design to products made by Apple under Steve Jobs. Linh Trang said: ‘We have seen the magnitude of Chanel co- ordinating the high fashion trend from left to right.

‘First they made the backpack cool, then reinvented the vanity case and finally brought the waist bag into the spotlight.

‘ Chanel feels like Apple after the year 1997, when Steve Jobs was the captain of the ship. Every new release came with something innovative and cool.’ Miss Trang also enthused about how the bags go over not one, but both shoulders, adding that this feature ‘balanced the weight’. However, she cautioned: ‘You do feel like something hanging on the right and left shoulders.’

Lambskin is seen as a luxury material and popular with leading designers.

Chanel claimed that the design ‘captures breezy allure and a seaside spirit’.
