‘Revenge’ plot to blow up mosque

-

AN anti-Islamic terrorist admitted yesterday planning to blow up a mosque to avenge the killing of an eight-year-old girl in the Manchester Arena attack.

Steven Bishop, 41, tampered with fireworks and bought a detonator on the dark web, a court heard.

He was arrested by counter-terror police at his mother’s home in Morden, south London, on October 29 last year after planning to attack a local mosque.

Bishop, from Thornton Heath, south London, also admitted possessing handwritten notes detailing how the attack would be carried out.

He is believed to have wanted to avenge the death of Saffie Roussos, who was the youngest of the 22 people killed in the Islamic State suicide bombing at a concert by American star Ariana Grande in May 2017.

At Kingston Crown Court, Judge Peter Lodder told Bishop: ‘You will come back to this court on Wednesday April 10 for sentence. In the meantime, you will remain in custody.’
