SANDIE SHAW was given a victory lift by Adam Faith last night (right) when she flew home from the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. The singer, 20, who won with British entry Puppet On A String, said at Heathrow Airport, London: ‘I feel a bit tiddly. The champagne and music started at midnight and just kept flowing.’

APRIL 10, 1969

JACK STRAW, 22, was elected yesterday as the new National Union of Students president. It was the first time in the union’s history that anyone had challenged an NUS president midway through his first year of office. Mr Straw is a radical who plans militancy whenever he judges it necessary.
