STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

-

I HAD a letter from National Savings & Investments (NS&I) asking me for lots of information, including my Premium Bond and account numbers. I noticed a spelling error and that the postcode on the preaddressed envelope did not match the one I have. Is this a genuine letter? L. B., London. ns&i confirms the letter is genuine. it is currently contacting customers to ensure their details are up to date. some letters contained a minor spelling mistake, which ns&i has apologised for and rectified. WHEN I visited my Santander branch to make a payment to my HSBC credit card, the cashier sent £300 to my old HSBC card, which is now closed.

I pointed out the mistake and was told I would receive my money back. But it has been almost two weeks and I am still out of pocket. B. D., via email. sAnTAnder says you only spotted the mistake after the money had been sent, so it could not be returned immediately.

however, it made an error recording the problem, which further delayed your refund. it has apologised, returned your £300 and also given you a £150 goodwill payment. IN DECEMBER, I used Expedia to book two non-refundable British Airways flights to Lyon in April for me and my son to go skiing. In January, my son broke his leg playing rugby and now cannot fly or ski. It seems unfair I cannot get a refund. N. C., via email. Given that you knew the flights were nonrefundable, i didn’t hold out much hope. But BA has agreed to refund your full £279.34. I TOOK out some bonds with Mercury Investments and Merrill Lynch between 2000 and 2006. But, after moving home a few times, I have lost track of them. B. C., Norfolk. The accounts were originally held by Mercury, which was later bought by Merrill Lynch investment Managers and then acquired in 2006 by the firm Blackrock.

Blackrock has confirmed it holds your bonds. write to Blackrock, Po Box 545, darlington dL1 9TQ with your new address and you can get an update on their value.
