MIKE + The Mechanics join KEN BRUCE (RADIO 2, 9.30AM) in the Radio 2 Piano Room this morning to perform songs from their new album, Out Of The Blue. Founded by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford in 1985, the band enjoyed huge success in the Eighties and Nineties, before calling it a day not long after the death of vocalist Paul Young in 2000. Then, in 2009, Rutherford began writing more songs and recruited two new singers to front the band, bringing Mike + The Mechanics back to life.

THE new series STEP BACK IN TIME WITH RYLAN CLARK-NEAL (RADIO 4 EXTRA, 11AM, 9PM) sees the X Factor contestant-turned-presenter (pictured) taking a celebrity friend back in time to revisit the pop culture news from years gone by. The

first episode sees actress and director Kathy Burke joining him on a trip back to 1997. They share tales from their lives back then and chat about the big stories of the day, including the death of Princess Diana.

FOR tonight’s FULL WORKS CONCERT

(CLASSIC FM, 8PM), Jane Jones dips her toes into the stream of classical talent that has flowed out of the Czech Republic over the years. She begins with Smetana’s overture to The Bartered Bride and Dvorak’s Serenade For Strings (conducted by Neville Marriner).
